A little bit about me and what I do

Hi, I am Sarah and paper-and-string is the name I have given my little business.

My family are all crafty and it seems to have rubbed off on me!  I started with cutting out paper dolls from 'Twinkle' and making sausages and peas from 'Play-doh' and it's culminated with a degree in Theatre Design.

I am originally from Plymouth, Devon, took my degree in Cardiff, Wales, and now I'm in the seaside town of Worthing, West Sussex, with my boyfriend John.  I manage a shop for my 'normal' job and my evenings and weekends are spent on paper-and-string things.

You can read my daily ramblings on my blog: www.paper-and-string.blogspot.com

Everything I make is designed by me and the patterns are drafted from my designs, also by me!

I then hand cut all the pieces with my trusty orange scissors and hand sew everything myself.

I only ever use wool felt, which is soft and smooth and comes in a lovely range of colours.  The fabrics I use are original vintage finds or brand new designs I love.  I embellish my creations with brads, beads and buttons; some are vintage, some are new, ALL are gorgeous!  I use a lot of ribbon and ric-rac, I love grosgrain ribbon and cotton ric-rac.

I also design and make all my packaging, using good quality patterned card and stationary printed on our home computer.
